Final Farewell

The iconic Tropicana Las Vegas took its final bow at 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9, marking a major turning point for both Las Vegas and Major League Baseball. The highly anticipated "Final Farewell" event has paved the way for the construction of the A’s state-of-the-art ballpark and a cutting-edge entertainment resort destination created in partnership with Bally’s Corporation, a name synonymous with Vegas and gaming.

The implosion of the Tropicana was celebrated with a breathtaking spectacle, featuring 555 drones and a fireworks display by acclaimed visual creator, Fireworks by Grucci.

The 23-story Paradise Tower featured 220 cut-point locations loaded with 490 pounds of explosives, while the 23-story Club Tower had 1,130 boreholes filled with 1,700 pounds of explosives. A total of 22,000 lineal feet of detonating cord was used for initiation. The demolition sequence started with the Paradise Tower, and both structures collapsed within approximately 22 seconds after the implosion button was pressed.
